ABOUT THE ARTIST
Name, and company name:
Alannah Renee Tiller -Alilscribble
Type of art you create and medium used:
Abstract, line work - When I work digitally I use an application on the iPad called Procreate. I also love to paint on canvas. When I do I like to use a mix of acrylic paints and Posca Pens.
What inspires you and your designs?
A great deal of my work is inspired by the faces I see everyday, whether that be in person or on social media. I love to find new ways to highlight all of these faces I am constantly being exposed to.
To date, what was one of your favorite projects you worked on and why?
One of my favorite projects to date has to be the image I created to help support the BLM movement. With the help of everyone who purchased in support, we were able to donate over $1,500 in a matter of days to various organizations in the search for social justice.
How long does it take you to create a custom piece?
It really depends on the project! Sometimes ideas will come quickly and other times it takes a little longer for them to come to fruition. If I start a work and am not totally in love with the design I’ll hold off and come back to it. Every project is different. It can happen in 10 minutes or it could take a couple weeks.
Can you describe your process?
I create my digital work in the app Procreate on the iPad. The process can vary from time to time. Sometimes I’ll see an image online that inspires me and I’ll use it as a reference point. I’ll pick apart the image, abstracting, adding pops of color and line work. Other times I’ll create completely from scratch. I consider my work very spontaneous, from what I make to the choices in how it’s created.
Has living in Austin influenced how you paint or what you paint?
I wouldn’t say the city has influenced what I paint but I will say it has had a huge impact on what I’ve been able to paint. The community here in Austin is unlike any other, everyone is so supportive and willing to collaborate and create together. I couldn’t be more grateful.
Who is your artist/style icon?
Artist icons would have to be Shantell Martin, Le Corbusier, Keith Haring, Mr Doodle and Heather Day.
And a personal fun question: What are you listening to/reading/watching these days?
My husband and I have been rewatching Friday Night Lights and we just finished AWAY on Netflix (so good!). I’m currently listening to a lot of Meg the Stallion, the band Poolside and as always The Killers.
All her work is beautifully crafted and has so much to offer! Make sure you check it out!
